MANILA, Philippines -- Less than three weeks before Philippine National Police (PNP) director general Avelino Razon relinquishes his post, he got the assurance that the government will not let him fade into the sunset from Interior and Local Government Secretary Ronaldo Puno.
During the ground breaking ceremony of the PNP Service Plaza at the PNP Headquarters in Camp Crame Wednesday, Puno hinted that Razon would be given another government post after retirement.
Of course, you will not be allowed to just fade into the sunset. There is another horse waiting for you in a grander stable, Puno said.
The PNP Service Plaza, an eight-story one-stop shop business center that will house all police service centers, including police clearance, gun license and permits, motor vehicle clearance, security guard licenses, benefits of retirees, and complaints referral is seen as one of the last projects of Razon as PNP chief before he retires on his 56th birthday.
Razon is set to step down on September 27 when he reaches the mandatory retirement age of 56 but got a two-day extension as turnover ceremonies was set September 29, a Monday.
The National Police Commission (Napolcom) has officially recommended Deputy Director General Jesus Verzosa to replace Razon.
[Razon] has left a legacy he can be proud of. Everybody has seen what you have done, Puno said
The state says the cases have been linked to a network of unlicensed horse racing tracks, including one in Duette in northeast Manatee
